May 2007

Well, I am not fantasizing about making out with a cow or a bull, nor a cattle. I love beef noodles, I love steak, and I love milkmilk.

Cow

But, I feel pressured having a lorry with full of cattles stopping next to me in front of a traffic light, you know how is it like? The choklud shadows clouding your car window, I started imagining them being on my plate and me cutting into their medium well flesh. Yummy.. but, what if they are sicked of being trapped in the boot and decided to jump off for some stunts? And then they would fall right onto my car roof, and I would be the first person in the world who dies of being squashed to death by cattles in a car, in front of traffic lights. Tragic.

What’s the use of a bull? We drink milk from cow, cattles will grow into a cow, or a bull. Do we eat bull’s meat? Or…people only eat their gigantic erhem for erhem purpose.

Conclusion, I love beef.

I was surprised to find a non-halal restaurant in Mid Valley, and their specialty is pork knuckles. Well, cut the crap and let the pictures talk.

Mr Ho's Fine Food

Alotta sauces and juices displayed neatly at the shelf, do not even touch, it’s dusty. =/

Place

It’s about 4pm, way past lunch. Quite and nice ambiance.

Potato Soup

The potato soup that comes with the set meal, quite nice, it’s a little salty though.

Pork Knuckle

This is their label, pork knuckle. A set meal of this is RM30 I think. It wasn’t as good as it claimed to be, the skin was not crispy enough and full of fats. And the meat was a bit hard. I think the founder, Mr Ho, never had this meal all by himself, because the meat was too much, and the side vege was quite salty, everything was quite salty. Uh they should give some salad instead of the boiled salty vege, I felt quite sick after eating less than half of it.

Roast pork

This set meal with roast pork is better than the whole knuckle, this was much crispier.  This set, came with a potato soup and a coffee/tea, was about RM18.90.

Mr Ho's Fine Food

And finally, I took this picture with my hp. Photography is not allowed in the mall right? Well, I think I would not return to this place again, I still feel sick of the oil and meat just now. It’s expensive too. If you want roast pork, I think those chicken rice stalls have better pork than this place. This restaurant is located in lower ground in Mid Valley, in between Burger King and Manhattan Fish Market, somewhere opposite Best.

I was bored of thinking what to eat one day, so I decided to drive around and hunt for lunch, and I passed by Pizza Hut!

Enlightened I was, I popped in and ordered an express lunch set, It was at RM7.90, inclusive of a 6″ personal pizza, a loaf of garlic bread and a mushroom soup.

pizza

A seafood pizza.  If you do not have an oven or microwave oven to reheat this, fret not, I only reheated on a non-stick pan, and it still turned out good!

Garlic bread

Garlic bread.

Mushroom soup

Mushroom soup.

In fact I waited for approximately 12 minutes for my food. :D Nice..

P/S: I ate garlic bread and soup for lunch and I was already very full, so, I had the pizza for dinner instead. :D They have another personal set meal with meatball spaghetti. I think it’s cheaper compared to ordering those regular pizza. And, I had it for 2 meals. This express lunch is only available from 11am - 2pm.

Since I always run out of ideas what to eat, so, yesterday, at spur of the moment, I went Klang for bak kut teh! My favourite place! *yummy*

Bak Kut Teh in Klang

It’s located by the roadside, not along the main road though.

Bak Kut Teh in Klang

It was only 4+ and it’s packed already.

Bak Kut Teh in Klang

You think it’s normal white rice, but look closely, the rice is shiny, it’s ‘oil rice’. Nicee!

Bak Kut Teh in Klang

This is the pot..4 of us but we ordered one person meat and 2 persons spare parts.

We reached Klang around 3.40pm, but it had not opened yet, so, we tour in Klang until 4.30pm and the food was ready!

The few hungry us then ordered another bowl of spare parts and fu-chuk, yao char guai(dough stick) was not ready yet. :( I like fu-chuk but I don’t eat spare parts.  I didn’t really like this type of bak kut teh initially because I found it to be a little oiler than the usual. All the bak kut teh in Johor is very clear-based soup. This one is a little thicker, but slowly, I am so addicted to it now!

The bill came to about RM38 for 4. The first few times I went was always about RM40+ for 4 pax. Usually, if I think it’s cheaper then I just run off quickly, in case the boss comes back to me and say:”Sorry, wrong calculation, RM5 more please.” Yesh, I am quite a cheapskate. :P

If you ask me where is the exact location of this…. :D Hehe I do not know!
