October 2008

I have quite some spirits for cooking lately, because no internet at home, and cooking is almost the best way to kill time!

process of frying

With spaghetti left from my last tuna aglio oglio, i made something different this time.

Ingredients:

Pasta sauce, one real tomato (diced),  garlic, some chicken.

1. Stir fry the onion and garlic until fragrance, add in chicken. Then put everything aside.
2. Pour the pasta sauce + diced tomato into the pot and heat, stir fry a little, then add the chicken and onion.
3. Stir fry them again and let it heat for a while.
4. Serve!

longevity noodles

Longevity noodles - RM18, it is of course a must-have for birthdays. The noodles are half crispy, springy and tasty! And the gravy is good too. I think this is better than the usual longevity I have.

cod fish

Cod fish - RM60. Nothing too bad or too good.

pi pa duck

Crispy pi-pa duck - RM33. This is actually the restaurant’s specialty. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Of course, this has to go with the specially prepared plum & lemon sauce.

Warning! Heavy duty of pictures!

It’s been a long weekend and i hope all of you have enjoyed the extra 1 day off. More time off also means more food consumption and celebration.

Sadly, I did not have the chance to visit any of my Indian friends as I have gone back home to celebrate both my grandma and my father’s birthdays.

the food spread

The food spread on first table. Fried chicken..coleslaw..oat fried prawn..fishballs..tofu..

It’s actually better to eat in when you have plenty of little monsters running about in the house, esp when you wouldn’t want to run after them in restaurants.

steamed chicken

My grandma’s significant steamed chicken. It’s smooth and silky, no one else can master her cooking skill. My mom has tried many times with her recipe but the results were just different…

oat prawn

Fried prawn with oats. You can use the normal oats, and season the oats by adding some black pepper, sugar and a little bit of salt. Deep fry the prawn first, then fry some curry leaf and the oats, then final step is mixing the prawns together with the oats. Delicious!

Some days ago, I met up with HuaiBin while he was down in KL. And also met up with KY and Ringo for a dinner together. This is actually my first time meeting other bloggers. Oh, shy nye!

It’s actually my 2nd time dining in the Gardens, my first time was in Go-Gung,  which is opposite this Fong Lye.

KY’s pork intestines set - RM17.80.

close up of jelly

The soup is spicy and sourish. But spare parts are not really my type of food, can you see the pork-jelly swimming in the soup?
