June 2009

This is a place where I always forget to blog about. My favorite wantan mee in Uptown, the Kun Kee shop. It is located same row as Toast & Coffee, just slightly down the road.

kun1

First stall in the shop is the wantan mee! There are few other stalls like chicken rice, vegetarian stall and another 2 stalls.

kun2

My char-siew wantan mee @ RM4. What I like about the noodles here is, it is springy and firm. It’s not like the normal soggy wantan mee. The shop starts to get crowded around 12.30.

Finally I have got the time to blog! I went for some pro-writing and microsoft excel advanced training, and yeah i am a pro now! Though i haven’t got the time to write, but i do eat!

Jaya33 is a place that I have only been twice, and both times were for the Nagomi Shabu Shabu.

or1

This time, is, Oriental Pavilion. It is a hot spot for wedding dinner! When I went for the dinner, there was a wedding reception as well.

or2

Tauhu with spinach and mushroom (至尊鸳鸯豆腐) @ RM20.The gravy was really tasty, and the tauhu was tastily soft. I like the combination of spinach and taohu, since there were only 4 of us, hence 4 pcs of tauhu.

or3

The ultimate: claypot preserved vege fatty ribs (钵子梅菜烤骨 ) @ RM30. This dish was seriously flavorful! Gosh, the gravy went really really well with white rice!  Not a fatty pork eater, but the meat was soft and tender. Ahhh…heaven.

During our Penang stay, on the second night, we moved to Pearl hotel in Perai, for the convenience of sending my sister back to the matriks in kepala batas.

We were roaming around for food, not knowing what to eat, finally settled in this Golden Claypot which looked quite promising from the exterior.

The golden claypot!

interior

It is quite a nice and neat place. But it is not air-conditioned!

salted chicken

The highlight of their menu - salted chicken @ RM22. The last time I had salted chicken was like 18 years ago when my youngest sis was born. I was only 7 but already a glutton!

This chicken did not look too appetizing but it taste better than it looked. It was not THAT dry, it was slightly juicy and salty. We quite enjoyed it.

fish claypot

Claypot fish meat with vege. I love the vege more as it was very flavourful, but the fish was abit fishy. So, quite a let down on the fish part.

pai kuat

Claypot pork ribs with tomato. Nothing too significant and I think my mom cook it better.

With so many unfortunate news from around the world as a consequence of following GPS blindly…

Unfortunately, i was almost one of them too!

Look what GPS brought me to in Penang…
wongkok cafe penang

I was searching for Wong Kok the wong kok cafe…omg! All of us had a good laugh in the car.

Then on the search for tambun biscuit..

hoehiang biscuit penang

Gosh! After the wongkok disappointment, we did not have very high expectation on finding a biscuit shop on GPS..nonetheless we gave it a shot…

GOSH!
