Regarding to my previous post, what’s upsetting me is not the RM0.50. I mean, ok, I am not heppi coz I only got 50cent, what’s more is, I was not informed that it was a CPC campaign.
I would not have done differently even if I was informed earlier, but at least I would be aware of what’s going on. To be frank, I never fraud click, afterall, it won’t last me long.
I don’t really care how much per click pays, although RM0.50/click is really alot, but seriously, how much can people make from that? I myself would not click on an image ad because I can see everything on the banner. So, well, I don’t know. People might be cursing behind me now for being a pu$$y, which may be the reason why am I sneezing non-stop now. I am sure I am not alone, there ARE people who are feeling exactly the same as me now. Silence does not mean consent.

Sorry to have fanned that .50/click fire. It was just a postscript, hardly my main point. The concern here is the bloggers’ right to know what’s going on on their own website, which I’ve mentioned earlier in my previous comment. Anyway, chill.
Here’s a personal question (by asking this, I’m not supporting NN or Advlts - I still opine that bloggers should know if theirs is a CPM or CPC), come to think of it, even if you’d known it was CPC, would you have done anything differently? Refrain from signing up altogether?
Now I should be extra careful should I decide to monetize my site (which hasn’t be receiving *very* healthy traffic either).

been*. Please edit (and delete this second comment) as you see fit.

Hey
Sorry that I mentioned the 50sen per click part, I think that’s hardly the matter anymore.
Anyway, it’s nice that you’re truthful about not fraud-clicking but they are many many other bloggers who will (fraud click)
And not all our ads are CPC ads, you’ll be getting CPM ads and earn much more than just 50sen.
Sorry again for my part, and thanks for still supporting us =)
Suet Li from Nuffnang
June 14th, 2007 at 2:04 pm
narrowband: yeah you are right, money is not always the matter. Seriously, even if i had known it’s a CPC ad, I do not mind, at least i was informed before hand. Anyway, I am chilling now. Nothing matters anymore.
suet li: well, i don’t really care about whoever fraud click their own ads, even if they do it, i have no comment or discrimination either, it’s their blog, money and their own choice. Well, hopefully there will be CPM ad soon.
June 14th, 2007 at 2:49 pm
mmm… this sounds like a conclusion where everyone goes home happy?
still, i am not convinced. neither of the two big bosses have come out and make any apology to this issue. though suet li may speaks for NN (since when i’ve no idea, i am just taking it point blank by her signing off at each comments), i think someone still owe us an apology for not telling us before hand what we were getting.
YES, i cant get over the fact that the whole last week (and maybe this) was like a hell trip down the road being raped left and right. shoot me if you like. but that was teh fact.
and for them to begin the “excuses” and “reasoning” behind not telling is to repoint the gun at sloppychic’s 50 cents click earning, i think it’s a low down tactic used.
so much for a company that started with trusts and supports from bloggers. blind siding ain’t the way to do it. think again NN.
NoNN = Nuff of Nuffnang
June 14th, 2007 at 3:32 pm
I agree with Sloppychic, they should at least have the courtesy to inform the bloggers.
Please, we don’t need “adult supervision” for you to decide what to inform us or otherwise.
It’s not about the money, it’s common courtesy. Sorry.
June 14th, 2007 at 7:53 pm
suet li from nuffnang? suet li now working for nuffnang?
June 15th, 2007 at 6:39 pm
sad la. tim and ming got no balls. got to get pretty girls to comment to garner sympathy to hide the fact they are doing a bad job. sigh. who cares where the rum has gone. where are their balls? and most importantly, where is the money?
June 16th, 2007 at 1:13 am
Hi all,
I understand the concern that bloggers have had over the CPC campaigns.
It is a new system, that we have not dealt with before, and our main concern, in offering them has always been click fraud. Even google, with all its resources is facing billion dollar law suits currently.
Nuffnang is after all a company that has only been in operation for 4 months, we are even more vulnerable to such fraudulant actions. What I am saying is that the vulnerabilities are very real.
Not to worry. We are progressive in every sense. What this means is that this situation will be closely monitored. We will speak to our advertisers, we will speak to industry sources, we will speak to bloggers, we will listen to critiques like EnuffisEnuff, and then we will see if we can finetune it, and how to go about it.
EnuffisEnuff- Thank you for praising our dear suetli. The entire nuffnang team does like her very much.
As for our lack of balls, it hasn’t gone like the rum which was burnt by Kieran Richardson (although thats one way to go), its where it belongs rightfully in the human anatomy.
As for the money. Nuffnang is and always will be a VIABLE means for bloggers to earn money. Our cheques were sent out immediatly when bloggers asked for them. They did not have to wait. We look forward to building a VIABLE business, where advertisers are getting value for their money, and bloggers are getting value for their space, and their legitimate reach.
Inflating the market in the short run, is only going to cause problems in the long.
Thank you all for supporting the Nuffnang community. It is great to have such a lively discussion, and it shows the true power of the blogosphere in helping create better companies. We will certainly get better.
June 16th, 2007 at 1:59 am
ah, so ming has balls! majulah singapura! great to know. but your general knowledge needs some work…
- kieran edward richardson is a footballer playing with the probably the worst, overrated football club in the world.
- kiera christina knightley however, is a damn hot chick. suetli is hot too, but how to compare to kiera. do not disrepect the kiera by mixing her up with a sweaty overpaid guy who kicks balls for a living.
but that’s irrelevant to the lively discussion. here’s a more serious question, now that i know the state of your balls:
as for your comment on “inflating the market in the short run”…explain this.
why is it that nuffnang ONLY implemented the controversial CPC ads and said that “our advertisers now only pay for Unique Visits from Malaysian IP Addresses”…ONLY AFTER teh “wave of accusations” that hit them?
“Clearing Up Rumours”
http://nuffnang.com.my/blog/?p=52
seeing that this is a more recent development, does this mean that the previous “lesen mati”, kurnia and pensonic campaigns on nuffnang were charged by international ip addresses? that mean advertisers were charged for visits from say, germany, france, usa, kazakhstan, and of course, malaysia too?
it simply doesn’t make sense to do so especially in the case of those 3 advertisers…their ads mean absolutely shit to people outside of malaysia.
my honest question to you is…did nuffnang “inflate” the market initially by charging the advertisers for worthless international visits, unique as they might be?
if this is true then this is to the advertisers loss. and to the bloggers, it is short term benefit but gives thme unrealistic expectations of income based on the initial “inflation”.
in short, if this is true, that was terribly dishonest of nuffnang. you have abused everyone’s trust. please respond, this is a serious question. if you tell the truth and own up now i think you might still be able to salvage something.
June 16th, 2007 at 2:43 am
EnuffisEnuff, out of curiosity, are you a blogger as well ?
June 16th, 2007 at 10:39 am
hello josh.
Inflation? In my opinion advertisers should in fact be happy that they get international exposure. Go ask exabytes if any overseas bloggers find them to host their blog, i dunno the answer to that but it looks quite probable to me
June 16th, 2007 at 10:57 am
Lol @ Boss Lepton for “Hello Josh”. but i do have the same sentiment as you on saying hello to Josh over here. ahhaah…
June 16th, 2007 at 11:20 am
OMG!!!! I wrote Kieran Richardson!!! Paiseh! I must apologize for that. I’m a hugggee man utd fan, and whilst he needs to get his act together, he still wears the red shirt with pride (For how long I’m not sure).
In any case, where my balls are is not important to this discussion, and we now know you watch both E channel and ESPN. Kudos.
Furthermore, Suet Li’s beauty you noticed was exclusive of my erroneous mention of Kieran Richardson. We don’t compare her to Kiera Knightley, but in Nuffnang, she is a rose amongst thorns.
Geolocation, is a tool that our competitor initially used to claim technical superiority over us, and furthermore claim that we were somehow “shortchanging” the advertiser (This is old btw).
The reality is that it is not at all technically difficult to achieve.
In fact, even before we had Geolocation IMPLEMENTED (which took half a day), we considered bloggers and where their readers were coming from, albeit in a less stringent manner.
For example, as long as your readers were at least 70-80 percent Malaysian, we felt, that the advertiser was getting a good enough deal.
This is why: Firstly, they are getting brand exposure, even though the readers are from Singapore or beyond (Kazakhstan you so aptly mentioned gets only 0.1 percent in most instances). Secondly the rate of advertisement they were paying justified some seepage. i.e., We are competitively priced.
Tech bloggers who had majority overseas readers got advertisers whose products transcended borders. Like IP2Location for example.
Even with Geolocation, it is not 100 percent guaranteed. I just went for a follow up meeting with an advertiser, and a Lesen mati ad popped out in singapore (not ours incidentally)
We are professional about our work, and informed and educated all our advertisers about what we were doing. Listening to our justifications, they agreed to move forward, without Geolocation.
As I mentioned above, Nuffnang’s policy is and will continue to be openness to change and constant improvement. But it needs to be balanced. We can’t hear one side of the story and ignore the other. We consult all parties before making a decision, consider all angles.
After a while, we were starting to hear advertisers hum more about Geolocation. That is why we decided to implement it. Again, we are not afraid of making big decisions, or even U turning on them, but we make due considerations, and then we roll!
Earning lower amounts due to Geolocation is a sad fact. Something we did not forsee, it was brought about by competition in the market. For clicks again, the same reason.
Our promotional period for advertisers has just ended, and we should be raising the prices (this we had previously informed them of). We will still be competitive to them, but it will allow us to raise our payouts. One thing bloggers can be assured of. Nuffnang is building a viable business so we can stay in for the long haul. We are not profitable, but we are sustainable. As and when market conditions allow (i.e., Advertisers pay more), theirs will be the first pockets to be lined. Their fortune is directly pegged to ours.
June 16th, 2007 at 11:47 am
please do not associate me with that runty wannabe ass. he’s the reason i didn’t sign up with the other side.
yes i do have a blog, and i am signed up with nuffnang. however, i only have one…and revealing which blog would probably affect my earnings…or whether my account would still exist.
lepton: thanks for a smart reply, despite the insinuation. i do agree with you that in the case of exabytes its probably a great benefit to the advertiser. however how about the rest of the advertisers which were mainly local? my question is essentially since they only have just announced it, that suggests that the option did not exist previously. all i want is some transparency so i know what to expect from my next few weeks of earnings.
June 16th, 2007 at 12:10 pm
thanks ming, good answer…and wow faster than i thought. you split my reply that was meant to be to the ones above!
i appreciate the time it took to write out a detailed explanation, and that’s what i wanted to know. i guess there’s more going on behind the scenes than what it appears to be. however i think i’ve also come to realize that although the facts can be confirmed, but your intentions and what goes on behind closed doors in meetings can never be proved.
but its good to see some effort in going the “honest path”, so good luck with your business.
but pretty please…let us see some earnings soon k?
you can watch football after you’ve finished your work for the day
June 16th, 2007 at 12:19 pm
Further to your point. Rest assured that we do not discriminate bloggers who critique us.
In fact, we welcome bloggers to come forward with their opinions.
How would we get better otherwise? And to do so would be turning our backs on the belief we have in the self regulating nature of the blogosphere.
This week in malaysia, there are ads being run by Nike, Hotels Guru, Exabytes, MPH, Sportsplanet, and Foodloft, across over 2000 blogs. You cannot imagine for one moment that we micromanage, and “blacklist” any particular blogger. It would be way too much effort.
If your blog is not chosen for a campaign, it will be because the advetriser has not chosen it. Not that Nuffnang has blacklisted you! Rest assured, if that is the case, we will actively pursue advertisers for your blog.
You are our customer, and we will do everything in our power and reason to service your needs.
June 16th, 2007 at 12:23 pm
Hahaha, it is my pleasure.
Luckily the season is over! And guess who the champions are! I will watch more E channel soon! Have not even caught Pirates of the Caribbean 3
As much as possible, we try to be honest in our opinions and dealings. Covering up one lie after another is difficult and counter productive as it inhibits growth.
Do keep in touch.

@sloppychic
If you don’t mind doing some checking, does ENUFFisENUFF’s IP address starts with any one of the following?:
124.82.X.Y
60.48.(168-174).Y
60.51.(94-96).Y
60.52.(34-36).Y
60.50.199.Y
60.199.X.Y
I understand we need to respect each individual’s privacy but I (and a few others) are suspecting foul play. To reveal his IP or not is entirely up to you.
June 16th, 2007 at 1:39 pm
Kelwin, I thought u are away ! Still can online !!! Hahaha…true, there’s still no way particularly to validate the true identity with or without mentioning the “runty wannabe ass” because if you really are him, it’s a piece of cake to “conceal” it. If you are not him, you know what I mean.
Giving some benefit of doubt you aren’t. I’ll share something with you. I once have both the “runty ass” and Nuffnang in my blog.
Runty Ass doesn’t exactly preached “openness” which he even in his own words ” not give extra traffic” to his subscriber ( me ) and a lot “plausible” hanky panky… which after Ming here demonstrates otherwise on NN’s end.
So, rest assured, even your blog is revealed, it won’t be compromised as you think it would be. After all, in the net, if you are right, you’ll be defended, otherwise…. we all know.
June 16th, 2007 at 2:59 pm
so in the end everyone is going home happy? but seriously, i wish to see of the following:-
option to opt in or out of CPM/CPC program etc. seriously, if you tell me technology is hard, then you can quit being a dot com.
more transparency in things that NN does behind the scenes. i am not asking for you guys to reveal what exactly you guys are doing, but a short video clip on the ballot of prize of the month wouldn’t hurt would it? since it did raised some issues regarding the previous few draw. further, i believe your competitor is doing a far better job at providing updates via his main page blog .
updates for earnings takes too long. suspect of foul play is not irrelevant in this sense. and again if you tell me technology is hard, you can quit being a dot com.
and btw, the control panel of NN stinks at times. try to put more attention to some details to improve the experience using it ok?
maybe there are others thing you guys wanna see, but my personal agenda are those. till then, maybe i won’t be NoNN, maybe i will be NNoNN = Not Nuff of Nuffnang
NoNN = Nuff of Nuffnang
