New eatery in TTDI, how can I possibly miss it? Since i am out of idea for lunch everyday. This shop used to be Shakey’s, but i guess they had to fold the business due to the reallllly little crowd.
I was told that what makes this Popeyes different from KFC is their ‘cajun-style’ chicken.
Oh really?
Their fried chicken. They have mild and spicy too. Sadly i did not taste anything spicy in the spicy chicken. They are better than KFC in chicken because it has less fats and oil in the chicken.
Comes with a mashed potato and coleslaw too. The mashed potato gravy has some minced meat. Not bad!! RM9.90, comes with a drink and another piece of biscuit, which is more like scone.
Shrimp sandwich, it is quite pathetic and dry. Nothing similar to the display picture at all!
Shrimp rice bowl. Too much gravy and looks soggy. No good.
Conclusion: only the fried chicken is worth a try, guess i won’t be returning there in another 2 months or so. Their fries are not too bad though.
P/S: i have quite some cny food to post. hehehe

Does this name has anything to do with Popeye The Sailorman? Because I think Popeyes existed long time ago when I was small. So it returned? I also noticed Wendy’s is making a comeback. These two brands were giving KFC a run for its money 20 years ago!

Eh Xin, we haven’t go makan yet. The shrimp menu items looks quite sad although I’ve been wanting to eat chicken and biscuits (which I always thought was waffles in this context).

Never tried this, but the rice bowl doesn’t look good…
This is 7th day of CNY, traditionally called ‘Human’s Day’. Happy birthday to all!

I tried the fried chicken but very dissapointed, the meat is tasteless, I won’t order in the future. the mash potatoes is good. KFC is the best and mcdonald fried chicken is also better than them.
Nxt time try the shrimp rice bowl.

Thinking to make a change from KFC, I had the snack plate equivalent. It was a pleasant change, until I ate the thigh. It taste funny. When I investigate further, it smell like the stuff in the intestines had contaminated the piece. It’s KFC or McD for me anytime. If Popeye’s is not careful about processing their food, it is goodbye forever. Bye-bye Popeye!

I really really like their coldslaw, mashed potato & biscuit. However, I find that their chicken is like “extremely salty”. Well we already eat out so often, a lil less salt would be better for the body.
The rice looks good. I think I am gonna try that the next time I go bungkus.
